Another great FM Camp

Another fantastic FM football camp was held by the Coaching staff.  Some of the highlights included visits by former Hornet and SU star Danien Rhodes and Will Hunter of the Minnisota Vikings.

The Hornet banquet was a terrific success
Your 2005 JV and Varsity Hornets celebrated a fantastic season at the Carrier Circle Holiday Inn.

All of the Coaches made some wonderful comments about the JV and Varsity teams.

Coach Muench honored each of the seniors with some very kind and humorous words. Championship certificates, letters and awards were handed out.

2005 award recipients:

Offensive Player of the Year: Colin Simmons
Defensive Player of the Year: Bobby DeForest
Leadership Award: Isaac Bailey
Coaches Award: Vinny Cupo
Offensive Linemen of the Year (Rafferty Award): Mike Arthur and Chris Anderson
Defensive Linemen of the Year: Pat Lee
All-around Player Award: Jimmy Laubenstein
Special Teams Award: Dave Shield
Scout Team Player of the Year: Tony Brown
National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Representative: Isaac Bailey

Colin Simmons - Kinney Drugs Player of the Game (vs. RFA and Henninger)
News 10 Now Player of the Year!

Isaac Bailey - Section III Championship Game - MVP and Sportsmanship Award

This was a wonderful evening and I can safely say that everyone had a great time.

Brothers bring the Hornets season to an end
"Live as brave men; and if fortune is adverse front its blows with brave hearts."
Cicero, 65BC

When Collin was injured in the first quarter and had to leave the field, the dynamics of the game changed and the Hornets were faced with a supremely difficult task. They kept fighting and never quit, Ike Bailey had a great game and Zach Aga was fantastic. The Hornet D was pushed to the limit and fought gallantly to the finish. In the end, a couple of turnovers gave CBA a short field and some questionable officiating made the difference. The Brothers were the victors 49-28. Hats off to them, they’re a very good team.

To Hornet fans this team has been special and the seniors will be sorely missed; Aga, Anderson, Arthur, Bailey, Cupo, DeForest, Fountain, Simmons, Shield to name only a few. This has been an extraordinary group of kids and this team has to go down as one of FM’s best.
A talented group returns next year and an undefeated JV team moves up to varsity. I’m sure with dedication and hard work the Hornets will be back in the dome again very soon.

Once a Hornet, always a Hornet.

Rematch for the Section 3 Championship
Well we’re back. The Carrier Dome, CBA and the sectional championship. It’s deja vu all over again. CBA has won 22 in a row and a state championship. The Hornets are 9-0 and ranked #7 in NYS. The Hornets average 40 points per game on offense and give up 12 points per game on defense. CBA averages 39 points on offense and gives up 7 per game on defense. All indications are its going to be a great game.

Perfect 9-0, AA-2 champions and a trip to the sectional finals. By any measure this has been a great season. Absolutely stomped on most of the teams they played, a big come back at Utica Proctor and beat Henniger twice. This team has a special group of seniors. Talented, tough and composed, they’ve been together for a long time. They lost 1 game by 1 point as freshmen, undefeated as sophomores, played for a sectional championship as juniors and have returned to the dome perfect as seniors. I fully expect a Hornet victory Saturday night but no matter what happens it’s been great being a part of it.
