Hornets pummel Northstars 49-21
The CNS Northstars seemed determined to stop Collin Simmons and the potent FM running game. Ike Bailey and Zach Aga made them regret that decision. Bailey was 19 for 26 for 239 yards and three touchdowns all to Zach Aga. CNS may have slowed Simmons but there really is no way to stop him. He ended up with 93 yards rushing, 2 touchdowns and 4 catches for 28 yards. Bobby DeForest had some very strong carries in the fourth quarter including a terrific 24 yard run for the Hornets final touchdown.

The Hornet defense played well holding the Northstars highly regarded running back Antwaun Johnson to 100 yards on 22 carries, well below his average. Johnson had been averaging over 170 yards per game and over 8 yards per carry.

The Hornets are now 8-0 and move on to the AA semifinals and a rematch with the always formidable Henniger Black Knights. The last two contests between these two teams have been hard fought and very physical. It is always difficult to beat a team twice in one year and the Hornets are going to have to be revved up if they are going to be victorious and march to the sectional finals in the Carrier dome.

Hornets win AA-2 title!
Your undefeated and #7 state ranked FM Hornets defeated the Henniger Black Knights 28-20 to win the AA2 title in a rainey, foggy slugfest at Hornet Field. Collin Simmons rushed for 202 yards on 23 carries against a very stout Henniger defense and showed why he is a front runner in the CNY POTY honors.

The Hornets started the scoring with a pretty 38 yard pass from Ike Bailey to Scott Kleinklaus. The Black Knights returned the favor but were stopped by a swarming FM defense led by LB Vinny Cupo on the 2 point conversion. Simmons then ripped off a 60 yard run with the Shield PAT the score was 14-6 at the half.

FM padded the lead with another spectacular 50 yard run by Simmons to make it 21-6 in the third quarter. There was no quit in the Black Knights and they fought their way back to 21-20 in the fourth. The Hornets answered with a nice drive capped by a Simmons 11 yard run late in the game. After the kick off and great special team coverage, the Black Knights had about 1:30 to score from their own 7 yard line. The FM D had other ideas, came close to sacking Henniger QB Tim Rommel in the end zone and shut down any hopes for a final comeback.

This was a great effort by both teams. Congratulations to the Hornets and the Coaching staff on a 7-0 regular season, winning the conference title and securing a #1 seeding for the upcoming playoffs.

Hornets 21 RFA Black Knights 7
Your #8 state ranked Hornets fought their way through tropical storm Tammy and a stubborn RFA squad to remain unbeaten and move to 6-0. The passing game was limited due to the soaking rains so Coach Muench turned to Collin Simmons and the run game to lead the way. Collin answered with 242 yards on 33 carries and 3 touchdowns, Bobby D finished with a tough 51 yards on 12 carries. Chris Anderson, Mike Arthur and the rest of the O-line did an absolutely phenomenal job blocking for the FM backs.

After the Black Knights took a 7-6 lead into halftime, the Hornet defense took charge and stifled the Black Knights holding them to 122 total yards for the game. The Hornets were able to keep RFA’s quick RB Mike Mason in check. Mason finished with 48 yards most of those coming in their only scoring drive in the second quarter.

While the Hornet offense has been amazing this year averaging 43 point per game, the Hornet defense has been an unrecognized force. They have averaged giving up only 7 points per game and if you take away the 27 of the first half of the Utica Proctor game that average drops to a measly 3 points.

Up next for the Hornets are the Henniger Black Knights. Henniger is coming off a surprising loss to Utica Proctor Friday night and they will be fuming mad for a victory. With the Henniger loss to UP, the Hornets are assured of a share of the AA2 title. Now the importance of the game shifts to playoff seeding. With a win the Hornets will tie up a 1 seed, with a loss they would be a #2 seed and Henniger would be the #1 seed.

Hornets roll again.
Your 9th ranked Hornets visited the Central Square Red Hawks and went bird hunting. The Red Hawks had a good 1st quarter drive for a TD after a Hornet turnover. The Hornets then exploded for 63 unanswered points improving their record to 5-0.

The Hornets had 521 yards of total offense; 342 of those yards were on the ground with Collin Simmons leading the way again with 139 yards on 9 carries. Ike Bailey looked great throwing 3 first half touchdowns.

The Hornet offense has been unstoppable this year especially since the second half of the Proctor game averaging 47 points a game and this year the Hornet ground attack has averaged over nine yards per carry.

Hornets steamroll the Oswego Buccaneers on Homecoming
Well not much really needs to be said about this game. With more than 5 minutes to go in the second quarter the score was 55-0 and Coach Meunch inserted the reserves. The bad news for the over matched Bucs was that it didn’t make much of a difference and the Hornets rolled to a 67-0 final. The stars of this game for the Hornets were more numerous than the Milky Way.

JV update: JV Hornets stomp Oswego 34-0 to bring their record to 4-0. Outstanding!

There's a reason it says Pride on those helmets.
Your FM Hornets started slow but finished strong shocking the Utica Proctor Raiders 30-27 at D'Alessandro Stadium. Everything was easy for the Raiders in the first half, maybe a little too easy. Proctor stormed out to a 27-3 lead and out gained the Hornets 218 to 47 in the first half.

At half time the Hornets regrouped. “I just yelled at everyone to fire them up to play a good second half, I knew we would win.” Said Captain FB/LB Bobby DeForest.

Fired up to say the least, The Hornets scored on their first 4 possessions of the second half and rolled up 318 yards of offense. Ike Bailey had a great game and was 14 of 26 for 191 yards, with 3 touchdowns to Zach Aga, who had nine catches for 125 yards. The defense became the defense Hornet fans expected to see, made a dramatic turnaround and held the Raiders scoreless in the second half.

Coach Muench made a gutsy call for an onside kick which was recovered by the Hornets after the first score of the second half. This was the turning point of the game as the Hornets then scored on a 13 yard Baily to Aga pass to pull with in 12 points. After that score you could tell that the momentum had clearly shifted in favor of the Hornets.

I will say that I have never been around a more confident group of kids. Congratulations to the Coaching staff and the team on a great effort and incredible demonstration of determination.

Hornets #12 in first state rankings
Your Varsity Hornets are #12 in this weeks New York State Sportswriters Association Poll. This is the first poll of the season. CBA comes in at #1 and Henniger is at #6.
State Football Poll

Up next is a tough road game at Utica Proctor. The Raiders are 2-0 and looking very strong and are always difficult to play on their home field. The 2003 score was a UP 21-0 shut out over the Hornets. Last year the Hornets were victorious in the rain at FMHS by a score of 24-7. This year the Hornets will have to play very well to bring a victory home against a dangerous Utica Proctor team.

JV Update
The JV Hornets are off to a great start stomping the opponents they have played to date.
FM 56 Maine Endwell 0
FM 22 Union Endicott 6
FM 61 Utica Proctor 0

Great Job Men!

FM runs over Union Endicott
The Hornet defense bent but did not break, forced 5 turnovers and posted an impressive shutout over section 4’s Union Endicott. Dave Shield connected on a 30 yard field goal to start the scoring and the FM running game was in high gear. Collin Simmons ran for 151 yards on 15 carries and a TD. Fullback Bobby D. piled up 135 yards on 14 carries and Dave “Sheldon” Shield rushed for 22 yards on 7 carries with 1 TD. Up next will be a tough road game at Utica Proctor. The Raiders are 2-0 and coming off an impressive win over New Hartford.

FM rolls past defending class A champions Maine-Endwell
The Hornets took no time in sending a message to ME by scoring on the fist play of the game. Bailey to Simmons 67 yard scoring pass set the stage for the rest of the game as the Hornets pounded ME 47-6. Great team effort on both sides of the ball.
